Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor: Removal

CAUTION: Make sure that the specified amount of refrigerant oil is added.
  1. Remove the cover and disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Recover the air conditioning (A/C) refrigerant. Refer to AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
  3. Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER - 3.2L .
  4. Remove the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY .
  5. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to AIR CLEANER .
  6. Remove the A/C compressor, upper support bracket.

  7. Remove the A/C compressor, lower support bracket.

  8. Using suitable tools, release the accessory drive belt tension.

    9. CAUTION: Make sure that all openings are sealed. Use new blanking caps.
    CAUTION: Extreme cleanliness must be exercised when handling these components.
  9. Disconnect the A/C compressor refrigerant lines.

  10. Remove the A/C compressor.
