Repair Procedures: Replacement

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  2. Remove the drain plug (A), allow the oil to drain out and then reinstall the drain plug.

    Tightening torque: 

    58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.8 lb.ft)

    NOTE: The existing oil drain plug gasket must be replaced with a new one. (Do not reuse it.)
  3. Remove the oil filler plug (A).

  4. Fill the manual transaxle with manual transaxle oil through the filler hole.

    Recommended: 

    • SAE 70W, API GL-4
      • Recommended transaxle oil: SK HK MTF 70W, SHELL SPIRAXS6 GHME 70W, GS CALTEX GS MTF HD 70W, Kia genuine MTF&DCTF 70W SYNTHETIC

    Capacity: 

    1.7 - 1.8 L (0.45 - 0.48 U.S.gal., 1.80-1.90 U.S.qt., 1.50 - 1.58 lmp.qt.)

    NOTE: Make sure that oil level is at the proper level (A).

  5. Install the oil filler plug (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf m, 43.4 - 57.8 lb ft)

  6. Install the under cover.
