Navigation (GPS/SD Card)

  1. System features/Misdiagnose cases
    Inspection Description
    (1) System features  
    1. Displays map using GPS/DR system, calculating GPS signal and vehicle speed
      1. Possible reception issue in poor reception area
      2. Additional wait time required after battery re-connection
    (2) Misdiagnose cases  
    1. Black Box related: GPS reception issue from black box noise
    2. Cluster speed and navigation speed: It may vary (Design spec)
    3. Set Navigation display "North" will lock display of direction
    4. No SXM reception due to environmental issue: Buildings, Tower turn-table parking lot
  2. No GPS Reception/Inaccurate current location
    Issue Inspection Description
    Reception/Inaccurate current location (1) Duplicate issue
    • Duplicate using AVN
    • GPS reception on Engineering Mode

    1. Duplicate issue
      1. Compass icon is activated (Normal: Red compass color)
      2. Correct current location

    2. GPS activated

      (Normal: 3 or more yellow "Receive" icon)

    3. 3-1. Enter Engineering Mode

      1. Menu > Settings > System Info > Storage or SW Info > Touch left bottom 5 times, right bottom 1 time

      3-2. DR information at Engineering mode (Normal: 3 or more STATUS 1, SNR 40 or above)

    4. Antenna connection at Engineering mode
      1. Engineering mode → Care → Vehicle I/F diagnose → GPS ANT SHORT/OPEN (Normal: NOT SHORT, NOT OPEN)

    5. If connection is "Open", check cable connection
      1. AVN connector
      2. Antenna connection
      3. Cable connection

      → Move to good reception area and re-test (Poor reception area)

      → Proceed with below step if this issue continues

  3. GPS reception/Incorrect current location
    Issue Inspection Description
    No GPS reception/Inaccurate current location (1) Duplicate issue
    • Duplicate using AVN
    • GPS reception on Engineering Mode

    1. Duplicate issue
      1. Compass icon is activated (Normal: Red compass color)
      2. Check if map displays current location

    2. GPS activated

    3. Check DR at Engineering mode
      1. Engineering mode > Module info > Navi engineering mode

        (Normal: 3 or more STATUS 1, SNR 40 or above)

      → Move to good reception area and re-test (Poor reception area)

      → Proceed with below step if issue continues

    No GPS reception/Inaccurate current location (2) External/Environmental issue
    • Black box
    • Cable connection

    1. Black box related issue
      1. Remove power on black box and reconnect

        (Many cases with GPS reception issue due to black box power)

    2. Antenna connection status on Engineering mode

      (Antenna ↔ AVN connection cable)

      1. Remove power on black box and reconnect

        (Many cases with GPS reception issue due to black box power)

      2. Engineering mode → Care → I/F → GPS ANT SHORT/OPEN

        (Normal: NOT SHORT, NOT OPEN)

  4. No GPS Reception/Inaccurate current location
    Issue Inspection Description
    No GPS reception/Inaccurate current location (1) Duplicate issue
    • Duplicate using AVN
    • GPS reception on Engineering Mode

    1. Compass is activated

      (Normal: Display 3 or more)

    2. Check DR at Engineering mode

      (Normal: 3 or more STATUS 1, SNR 40 or above)

    3. Check current location

      → If reception is good, proceed with drive test to duplicate issue


    → Move to good reception area and re-test (Poor reception area)
    → Proceed with below step if issue continues
    (2) External/Environmental issue
    • Black box
    • Cable connection
     
    1. Black box
      1. Remove power on black box and reconnect

        (Many cases with GPS reception issue due to black box power)

    2. Antenna/Antenna ↔ AVN Cable connection status

      1. Check antenna connection
        1. Check rear AVN antenna connection status (Blue color)
        2. Joint antenna connection status

          → Check vehicle diagram, 'A pillar', 'C pillar'

        3. Check antenna connection at roof
        4. Cable modification
      2. Check antenna connection or Engineering mode
        1. Engineering mode → Care → I/F → GPS ANT SHORT/OPEN

          (Normal: NOT SHORT, NOT OPEN)

    No GPS reception/Inaccurate current location (3) Defect caused by Ext. parts  
    1. If no antenna connection, replace antenna and re-test
      1. Use test antenna or use from dealer/MRC inventory

    (4) Related TSB  
    1. Check related TSB, apply latest H/W and S/W

      (Example: TSB for YG AVN 4.0, Add FELT to FFC Cable (Improve CD and power problem))

    (5) H/U defect  
    1. If antenna connection is good, replace H/U and re-test
      1. Additional wait time is required after disconnecting Battery
    Others
    1. For additional analysis, store log information

      [Setting - logging ON]

      1. Menu → Settings → System info → Storage → press left bottom 5, right bottom1

        → module info (3/3) → Navi Engineering mode → Input 120421

        → GPS/DR → GPS Logging ON → Drive TEST → GPS log export (USB memory connection)

      2. If issues duplicates during drive test, request SW analysis (GPS Module Vendor)
  5. SD Card recognition fail/Error message

    1. SD card recognition

      (Normal: recognize, reboot)

    2. Error message

      (Map recognition fail)

    3. Genuine SD Card use

      (Check compatibility with H/U)


    → If SD Card fails to recognize and displays error message,
    1. Proceed with below step for further analysis
    (2) Visual inspection
    • Damaged SD Card pin, foreign object
    • Damaged SD Card socket, foreign object, bent

    1. Check for damaged PIN SD Card must be unlocked

    2. Damaged SD Card socket, foreign object, bent
    (3) SD card files

    1. Check data in SD card using PC

      (Check model, compare data volume → unnecessary files, data for other model)

      → (2), (3) If issues still occur, replace H/U and re-test
