Vehicle S/W Management: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Kia Niro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
  1. Check the connector status of the HCA after removing the undercover under the vehicle.
    • If the connector is not properly connected, check the system after connecting the connector normally.
    • Check the HCA connector terminal for corrosion.
    • If the engine clutch system is leaking, replace the leaking area.
    • If there is no connector defect or corrosion, proceed to step 2.
  2. Clear the DTC and use the KDS/GDS to perform "Engine Clutch/Motor Resolver Adaption" and check the DTC.
    • If the same DTC occurs, proceed to step 3.
    • If the same DTC does not occur, check whether another DTC has occurred.
    • If the "Engine Clutch/Motor Resolver Adaption" fails, take action according to the reason for failure.
  3. Check the following parts in current data at ignition "ON" (Not READY) after ignition "OFF" for 5s.
    • If the operating position of the engine clutch actuator is more than -4.0mm, replace the HCA.
    • Replace the HCA if the operating position of the engine clutch actuator is located near -4.5mm but the operating pressure of the engine clutch actuator is over 1.4 bar.
  4. After replacing the engine clutch actuator, (1) "Initialization of the engine clutch inspection line learning and diagnostic information"→ (2) "Removal of air from clutch hydraulic pressure line"→(3) "Engine Clutch/Motor Resolver Adaption"→(4) "Stabilization of the engine clutch hardware transfer torque" must be sequentially performed.

    * If the SOC is less than 35% and the gear is P position in the HEV "Ready" state, the engine will operate and the SOC will be charged.

    * When "Removal of air from engine clutch hydraulic pressure line" is performed after replacing the engine clutch system, the brake oil temperature must be over 20°C (68°F) to perform normally.

Inspection Condition Inspection Procedure Reference
  1. Ignition "ON".
  1. Connect KDS/GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Perform "Vehicle S/W Management" of concerned component with GDS/KDS.
