Signal Circuit Inspection

■ Brake Switch Circuit Open Or Short Check 

1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect Brake switch connector and stop signal electronic module (SSEM) connector.
3. Measure resistance between brake light switch terminal of brake switch harness connector and stop lamp switch terminal of SSEM harness connector.

   Specification:  Approx. 1Ω

4. IG "OFF".
5. Disconnect brake switch connector.
6. IG "ON".
7. Measure voltage between brake light switch terminal of brake switch harness connector and chassis ground.

   Specification:  Approx. 0V

■ Brake Switch Circuit Open Or Short Check 

1. IG "OFF".
2. Disconnect brake switch connector.
3. IG "ON".
4. Measure voltage between brake switch terminal of brake switch harness connector and chassis ground.

   Specification:  Approx. 0V

5. IG "OFF".
6. Disconnect brake switch connector and PCM connector.
7. Measure resistance between brake switch signal terminal of brake switch harness connector and brake switch signal terminal of PCM harness connector.

   Specification:  Approx. 1Ω

8. Are the measured values within specifications?

   YES 

   • Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

   NO 

   • Repair open or short in signal circuit and then go to "Verification Of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
