GDS Data Analysis

  1. Connect GDS to Data Link Connector. (DLC)
  2. ENG "ON".
  3. Diagnose ABS/ESP with GDS for DTC and state information.
  4. In case of historic DTC: Erase DTC and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
  5. In case of active DTC: Perform following procedure.
  6. Turn the steering wheel to the left or right.
  7. Monitor the "Steering Angle Sensor" parameters on the "Current Data"  with GDS.

    Specification:  Parameter changes as steering wheel turns (Refer Fig 1)

  8. Is parameter displayed changes as steering wheel is turned?

    Test Condition : Ignition "ON" & Engine "ON".

  9. Line up the wheel straight.
  10. Monitor the "Steering Angle Sensor" parameters on the "Current Data"  with GDS.

    Specification:  Approx. 0 DEG

  11. Are parameters displayed within specifications?

    YES 

    • Fault might be intermittent caused by poor connection in the steering angle sensor harness. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
