Steering Wheel Free Play Inspection

  1. Start the engine and then turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels can face straight ahead.
  2. Measure the play while turning the steering wheel to left and right.

    Standard value 

    Free play: Approx. 30 mm (1.2 in.)

  3. If the play exceeds the standard value, inspect the steering column, shaft, and linkages.
