Check Engine Coolant Level and ECT Sensor

  1. Check engine coolant level.
  2. If needed, adjust coolant level, then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
  3. If engine coolant level is proper, remove and check ECT sensor.
  4. Measure resistance between terminals 1 and 3 of the ECT sensor harness connector.

  5. Is the ECT sensor within specifications?

    YES

    1. Go to "CHECK THERMOSTAT " as below.

    NO

    1. Check ECT sensor for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good ECT sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECT sensor and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
