Removal And Installation: Removal

Remove the rear muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Remove the rear differential. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Raise the vehicle and using a suitable marking device, mark the position of the crossmember on the rear frame rails (1).

Support the crossmember (1) with a suitable lifting device and remove the front and rear bolts (2).

Lower the crossmember as necessary and assemble tools over isolator as shown in illustration.
NOTE:
Prior to using special tools, lubricate Screw Assembly (special tool #8838-2, Screw Assembly) (1) threads to provide ease of use and promote tool longevity.

NOTE:
When installing thrust bearing, be sure to place hardened side toward bolt head.

Tighten the screw assembly, pressing the isolator out of the crossmember and remove the tools with the isolator.
