Water Pump

WARNING:

Constant tension hose clamps are used on most cooling system hoses. When removing or installing, use only tools designed for servicing this type of clamp. Always wear safety glasses when servicing constant tension clamps.

CAUTION:

A number or letter is stamped into the tongue of constant tension clamps. If replacement is necessary, use only an original equipment clamp with matching number or letter.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system into clean container for reuse. Refer to DRAINING  .
  3. Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to COMPRESSOR, A/C, REMOVAL .
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  5. Remove the lower radiator hose (1) from the water pump.

  6. Remove the four wire harness retainers (1, 2, 3, 4) from the water pump.

  7. Remove the EGR cooler hose (2) from the water pump.
  8. Remove the oil cooler hose (3) from the water pump.
  9. Remove the three bolts (1) and one nut (4) and the water pump.
  10. Remove the water pump and discard the seal.
