Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECTION .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Disconnect the transmission range position switch wire harness connector.

  4. Remove the two bolts (1) from the transmission range position switch and remove the switch.

INSTALLATION

  1. Position the transmission range position switch, then install the two transmission range position switch bolts (1) and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
    CAUTION:

    Do not overtighten switch.

  2. Connect the transmission range position switch wire harness connector.
  3. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECTION .
  5. Verify reverse lamp operation.
  6. If the transmission range position switch was replaced with a NEW  switch, the LEARN GEAR SHIFT SENSOR  routine must be performed using a scan tool.
