Description And Operation
DESCRIPTION
The Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) is integral to the Motor Generator Unit (MGU) (1). The HCP provides the strategy for charging the 12 volt battery and the Power Pack Unit (PPU). The HCP monitors the 48 volt system, B+, switched ignition, crankshaft pulse signals and Controller Area Network (CAN) bus circuits for any concerns. The HCP can also detect any internal failures, high temperature and resolve failures.
For additional information on the eTorque system, refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
The HCP is flash programmable and is sensitive to cold temperature during module flashing. The HCP will need to be flashed when the vehicle is at room temperature. Not flashing the module at room temperature can cause the flash procedure to fail to complete, which could lead to an unnecessary component replacement.
