Removal And Installation

NOTE:

Two Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) modules are used in this vehicle, one for the left side and one for the right side. Each BSM module is integral to the Blind Spot Sensor (BSS) located in the tail lamp assembly on the same side of the vehicle.

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the appropriate rear tail lamp. Refer to LAMP, TAIL STOP TURN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Disengage the tail lamp wire harness connector (3) from the tail lamp bracket (2).
  4. Remove the tail lamp bracket (2) to tail lamp housing fasteners (1), disengage the retainer (4) and remove the bracket from the tail lamp.

  5. Remove the tail lamp cover (1) to tail lamp housing fasteners (2) and remove the tail lamp cover (1).

  6. Disconnect the BSM wire harness connector (2), and remove the BSM with bracket from the tail lamp housing.

  7. Disengage the BSM retainers (2) and remove the BSM (1) from the bracket.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Position the BSM in the bracket and engage the retainers.
  2. Position the sensor and bracket on the tail lamp housing and connect the BSM wire harness connector.
  3. Position the tail lamp cover to the tail lamp housing and install the fasteners and tighten securely.
  4. Position the tail lamp bracket to the tail lamp housing engaging the retainer.
  5. Install the tail lamp bracket to tail lamp housing fasteners and tighten securely.
  6. Install the appropriate rear tail lamp. Refer to LAMP, TAIL STOP TURN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
