Dual Disc Clutch Transmission (DDCT): Installation
- If removed, install the TCM mounting bracket.
- Position the TCM in the mounting bracket, then install and securely tighten the nuts.
- Connect the TCM wire harness connectors.
- Install the TCM cover and securely tighten the nuts.
- Connect the ground wire and securely tighten the nut.
- Install the filler panel and fold down the carpet.
- Install the right front kick plate. Refer to PANEL, COWL TRIM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
- If the TCM is replaced, perform the "Kiss Point" and "Clutch Transmissibility Curve Fine-Tuning" procedures.
- Connect the diagnostic scan tool and perform:
- "HISTORICAL DATA" rewriting.
If the TCM and any other component subject to a "Data Set Deletion" procedure are replaced simultaneously, the "HISTORICAL DATA" must be copied and then the data set deletion can be performed out for the component being replaced.
NOTE:If it not possible to read data from the TCM being replaced, and the "HISTORICAL DATA" rewriting procedure cannot be performed, the system operation is not adversely affected.
- Data Set Deletion
- End Of Line/Service Self-Calibration
- Longitudinal Accelerator Sensor Learning
- Clutch Self-Calibration Enabling
- "HISTORICAL DATA" rewriting.
- Within the "Clutch Self-Calibration Enabling" procedure, a "
Clutch Heating Procedure
" may be required:
- 1. Select the manual mode.
- 2. Engage 1st gear and take off with the accelerator pedal in middle/low position.
- 3. After reaching a sufficient engine RPM, engage 2nd gear.
- 4. Drive for a short distance to make sure that the even gear clutch is closed, slow down until the automatic down shifting threshold is almost reached, then press the accelerator (pedal in middle/low position) in order to set off in 2nd gear which causes the K2 clutch to slip and allows it to be heated.
- 5. Check K1 and K2 clutch temperatures again. If at least one is lower than 40°C (104°F), repeat the procedure from point 2; otherwise proceed according to the sequence shown on the diagnostic scan tool.
- At the end of the procedures performed with the diagnostic scan tool, fine-tune the clutch transmissibility curves using the
Transmissibility Fine-Tuning Procedure
below:
- Before performing the procedure, wait until the engine coolant temperature above 90°C (194°F).
- Select the manual mode.
- Engage 1st gear and set off with the accelerator pedal in middle position.
- After reaching a sufficient engine RPM, engage 2nd gear.
- Drive for a short distance to make sure that the even gear clutch is closed, slow down until the automatic downshifting threshold is almost reached, then press the accelerator (pedal in middle position) in order to set off in 2nd gear.
- Engage the 1st gear and set off with the accelerator pedal in middle/high position.
- After reaching a sufficient engine RPM, engage 2nd gear.
- Drive for a short distance to make sure that the even gear clutch is closed, slow down until the automatic downshifting threshold is almost reached, then press the accelerator (pedal in middle/high position) in order to set off in 2nd gear.
- Engage 1st gear and set off with the accelerator pedal in low position.
- After reaching a sufficient engine RPM, engage 2nd gear.
- Drive for a short distance to make sure that the even gear clutch is closed, slow down until reaching the automatic downshifting threshold, then press the accelerator (pedal in low position) in order to set off in 2nd gear.
- Select the automatic mode.
- Drive the car for about 5 km (3 miles), preferably on a mixed city and highway route, making sure to change gears in different accelerator pedal conditions.
