Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Drain the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  4. Remove the screws (1a) and remove the DEF pump cover (1b) with seal (1c).

  5. Remove the screws (1a) and remove the DEF pump (1b).

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pump (1b) and tighten the screws (1a) to the proper specification. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  2. Install the DEF pump cover (1a) and securely tighten the screws (1b).
  3. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  4. Fill the DEF tank with clean DEF fluid.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
    NOTE:

    Whenever the DEF pump is being replaced the learned values need to be reset.

  6. Using the scan tool, perform Clear the DEF Pump Learned Values  function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.
  7. Using a scan tool, perform DEF Tank Fluid Level Reset  function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.
