Removal And Installation
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Drain the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the screws (1a) and remove the DEF pump cover (1b) with seal (1c).
- Remove the screws (1a) and remove the DEF pump (1b).
INSTALLATION
- Install the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pump (1b) and tighten the screws (1a) to the proper specification. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the DEF pump cover (1a) and securely tighten the screws (1b).
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Fill the DEF tank with clean DEF fluid.
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.NOTE:
Whenever the DEF pump is being replaced the learned values need to be reset.
- Using the scan tool, perform Clear the DEF Pump Learned Values function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.
- Using a scan tool, perform DEF Tank Fluid Level Reset function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.
