Removal And Installation: 3.6L
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECTION
.
- Remove the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the wire harness connectors (1) from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Remove the PCM retaining bolts (1) and nut.
- Remove the PCM from the mounting bracket.
INSTALLATION
- Position the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) onto the mounting bracket.
- Check the pin connectors in the PCM. Also check the wire harness connectors for corrosion or damage. Repair as necessary.
- Install the PCM bolts and nut and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Carefully plug the connectors into the PCM.
- Install the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECTION
.NOTE:
If the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and original vehicle mileage is not programed into the PCM, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.
- If installing a new PCM, use a diagnostic scan tool to reprogram the new PCM. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
