Removal And Installation: 3.6L

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECTION .

2. Remove the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Disconnect the wire harness connectors (1) from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

4. Remove the PCM retaining bolts (1) and nut.
5. Remove the PCM from the mounting bracket.

INSTALLATION 

1. Position the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) onto the mounting bracket.
2. Check the pin connectors in the PCM. Also check the wire harness connectors for corrosion or damage. Repair as necessary.
3. Install the PCM bolts and nut and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
4. Carefully plug the connectors into the PCM.
5. Install the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
6. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECTION .
   NOTE:

   If the original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and original vehicle mileage is not programed into the PCM, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set.

7. If installing a new PCM, use a diagnostic scan tool to reprogram the new PCM. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
