Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTCs
- Turn the Ignition ON, Engine not running.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.NOTE:
Check for Bus Communication DTCs. If no Bus or Communication DTCs are set, check for active DTCs stored in the Anti-Lock Brake Module. Any bus or communication DTCs or VSS DTCs in the Anti-Lock Brake Module must be properly diagnosed before continuing.
- Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.NOTE:
It may be necessary to drive the vehicle to meet the conditions to set this DTC, try to repeat the conditions in which the fault set by reviewing the Freeze Frame data.

- VISUAL INSPECTION NOTE:
This code can set due to tire circumference differences and from the front or rear wheels being on a slippery surface while the opposite tires are not.
- This code may also set on a hard acceleration on loose gravel or during other off road driving conditions.
- Check tire pressure of all the tires.
- Check for correct tire sizes.
- Check tire wear on all the tires.
- Ask the customer what the road and driving conditions were like when the fault set.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary. If the code set during a front or rear wheel spin condition, no repair is necessary.
- Perform the Transmission Verification Test. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

- CHECK PCM WIRING AND CONNECTIONS
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Vehicle Speed Sensors, ABS Module, and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the Vehicle Speed Sensors, ABS Module, and PCM connectors.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the Transmission Verification Test. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

NOTE:If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
- Replace the TCM and perform programming and PROXI Configuration Alignment procedures. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the Transmission Verification Test. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK WIRING AND CONNECTORS
- The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
- Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.
- Check for any Service Bulletins that may apply.
