Seal, Input Flange: Installation: Installation

  1. Clean and inspect seal bore and sealing surface of pinion shaft, if any damage or excess wear is evident, replace the rear differential assembly.

  2. Using tool (1) (special tool #10117, Installer, Seal), carefully install the pinion seal into differential case (2) until the seal is flush and square with the bore.

    NOTE:

    Measure the installed depth of the seal in three places to be sure that the seal is installed squarely.

  3. Continue to slowly drive the seal into the bore until the seal (2) is 7 mm (.276 in.) below the machined face of the bore (1).
  4. Install the electronically controlled clutch assembly Refer to INSTALLATION .
  5. Check and correct fluid level. Refer to FLUID, DIFFERENTIAL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
