Tire Pressure Sensor: Notes
CAUTION:
The TPMS has been optimized for the original equipment tires and wheels. TPMS pressures have been established for the tire size equipped on your vehicle. Undesirable system operation or sensor damage may result when using replacement equipment that is not of the same size, type, and/or style. Aftermarket wheels can cause sensor damage. Do not use aftermarket tire sealants or balance beads if your vehicle is equipped with a TPMS, as damage to the sensors may result.
CAUTION:
Before installing tire pressure sensor, ensure you have the correct sensor. Sensors can be easily identified by a white outline oval (with black center) insignia on the sensor body.
CAUTION:
Tire pressure sensor valve stem caps and cores are specially designed for the sensors. Due to risk of corrosion, do not use a standard valve stem cap or core in a tire pressure sensor in place of the original equipment style sensor cap and core.
CAUTION:
The valve stem used on this vehicle is made of aluminum and the core is nickel plated brass. The original valve stem core must be reinstalled and not substituted with a valve stem core made of a different material. This is required to prevent corrosion in the valve stem caused by the different metals.
CAUTION:
Any time a sensor is to be installed in a wheel, a new seal, the cap and the valve core must be installed on the stem to ensure air tight sealing. See Figure.
CAUTION:
DO NOT reuse sensor-to-wheel grommet. Always use a new grommet when installing a pressure sensor and properly torque the sensor nut.
