Theft Alarm Will Not Arm

  1. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, VTSS, then MISCELLANEOUS. Check status of alarm. If alarm is enabled, go to next step. If alarm was not enabled, enable alarm. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Ensure liftgate, hood and all doors are closed. Remove key from ignition. Using scan tool, read active DTCs, ajar switch states, and key-in-ignition switch state. If scan tool displays any closed switches or VTSS related DTCs, go to appropriate diagnosis and repair procedure for specified DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table under RETRIEVING & CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If scan tool does not display any closed switches or VTSS related DTCs, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
