Heated Seat Relay Circuit Test

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove heated seat relay from right front power seat track bracket. See HEATED SEAT RELAY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect heated seat relay harness connector. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black wire) at heated seat relay harness connector. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between heated seat relay and ground point. Ground point is located under passenger's front seat, for both seats.
  2. Using DVOM, check battery voltage between ground and terminal No. 8 (Red/Light Blue wire) at heated seat relay harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Light Blue wire between heated seat relay and junction block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DVOM, check battery voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Light Green wire) at heated seat relay harness connector. If battery voltage exists, turn ignition switch to OFF position, disconnect negative battery cable and go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Light Green wire between heated seat relay and junction block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Disconnect Seat Heat Interface Module (SHIM) harness connector. Check continuity between terminals No. 4 and 6 (both Red wires) at SHIM harness connector. See Figure. If continuity exists, connect heated seat relay harness connector and go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Red wire(s) between SHIM and heated seat relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  5. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DVOM, check battery voltage between ground and terminals No. 4 and 6 (both Red wires) at SHIM harness connector. If battery voltage exists, turn ignition switch to OFF position, disconnect negative battery cable. Perform SEAT HEAT INTERFACE MODULE TEST . If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red wire(s) between SHIM and heated seat relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
