Low Beam Headlights Will Not Turn Off
- Using scan tool, select BODY SENSORS. Read HEADLIGHT SW VOLTS. Rotate headlight switch through all positions. Compare with HEADLIGHT SWITCH VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS table. If voltage is within specification, go to next step. If voltage is not within specification, replace left multifunction switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove low beam relay from junction block. See Figure. Install a known-good relay. Operate low beam headlights. If low beam headlights do not operate correctly, go to next step. If low beam headlights operate correctly, replace defective low beam relay. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove low beam relay from junction block. If low beam headlights are not illuminated, go to next step. If low beam headlights are illuminated, repair short to voltage in relay output circuit (Violet or Violet/Red wire) from low beam headlight relay socket terminal No. 87 to low beam headlights. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Install low beam relay. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from junction block. See Figure. Turn ignition on. If low beam headlights are no longer illuminated, go to next step. If low beam headlights are illuminated, replace junction block.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
