Horn Fails To Sound With Alarm Tripped

  1. Press horn button on steering wheel. If horn operates properly, go to next step. If horn does not operate properly, check for HORN RELAY CKT SHORTED HI DTC. If DTC is set, repair as necessary. See HORN RELAY CKT SHORTED HI . If no related DTCs are present, diagnose horn system. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from junction block. Connect test light between battery voltage and BCM junction block connector terminal No. 6. See Figure. Monitor test light and press horn button on steering wheel. If test light illuminates, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. If test light does not illuminate, replace junction block. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
