Radio Illumination Lights Inoperative

  1. Disconnect Gray radio connector C1. Connect test light between radio ground strap and radio connector C1 terminal No. 5 (Orange wire). See Figure. Turn on panel lights. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, replace defective radio. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect radio ground strap. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and ground strap terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair or replace radio ground strap. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange wire between radio connector C1 terminal No. 5 and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 13. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
