Transmission Control Module
TCM determines shift points and torque converter lock-up based on input signals received from TP sensor, TR sensor, speed sensor(s) and brake switch. TCM controls transmission shift points and torque converter lock-up by operating electric solenoids mounted on the valve body.
TCM contains a self-diagnostic system used for determining an electronic component failure. TCM self-diagnostic system will store a DTC in TCM memory if certain electronic problems are present.
DTCs can be retrieved using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box III (DRB-III) or an after-market OBD-II compatible scan tool. After repairing an electrical system problem, stored DTC must be cleared from TCM memory. TCM is located under instrument panel, next to A/C-heater unit. See Fig 1 .
