Washer Inoperative

  1. Remove junction block fuse No. 29. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and ignition switch output terminal on fuse No. 29 socket. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open ignition switch output circuit.
  2. Inspect junction block fuse No. 29. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If is fuse is okay, go to step  8 .
  3. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect right multi-function switch connector. Disconnect junction block C3 connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 23 (Brown/Pink wire) on junction block C3 harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Brown/Pink wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  4. Ensure washer pump switch is in OFF position. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and 3 on right multi-function switch component connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace right multi-function switch . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  5. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) from rear of junction block. Remove junction block fuse No. 29. Remove cigar lighter relay from junction block. Disconnect junction block C3 connector. Measure resistance between ground and ignition switch output terminal on fuse No. 29 socket. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace junction block. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect washer pump connector. Disconnect junction block C2 connector. Ensure right multi-function switch connector is disconnected. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Brown wire) on junction block C2 harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Brown wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  7. Ensure ignition is off. Ensure washer motor connector is connected. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Brown wire) on right multi-function switch harness connector. If resistance is less than 2.5 ohms, replace washer motor. If resistance is 2.5 ohms or greater, test is complete.
  8. Disconnect washer motor connector. Ensure ignition is off. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) on rear washer motor harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire.
  9. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect right multi-function switch connector. Disconnect junction block C3 connector. Measure resistance of Brown/Pink wire between terminal No. 43 on junction block C3 harness connector and terminal No. 1 on right multi-function switch harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Brown/Pink wire.
  10. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and 3 on right multi-function switch harness component connector. Operate washer switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace multi-function switch.
  11. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) C2 connector. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Brown wire) on BCM C2 harness connector. Operate washer switch. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Brown wire.
  12. Remove junction block fuse No. 29. Ensure junction block C3 connector is disconnected. Measure resistance of fused ignition switch output circuit between fuse No. 29 and terminal No. 43 on junction block C3 connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace junction block.
  13. Ensure all components except washer pump are connected. Connect test light between washer pump harness connector terminals. Depress washer switch. If test light illuminates, replace rear washer pump. If test light does not illuminate, test is complete.
