No Response From Air Bag Control Module (CHEROKEE)
WARNING:
Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before disconnecting airbag control module. If airbag control module is dropped, it must be replaced.
- Remove fuse No. 27 from junction block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 7) .
- Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and ignition switch output run/start terminal on fuse No. 27 socket. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open ignition switch output run/start circuit.
- Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and fused ignition switch output terminal on junction block fuse No. 27. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to step 5) .
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes. Disconnect Airbag Control Module (ACM) connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and fused ignition switch output terminal on fuse No. 27. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair fused ignition switch output circuit for short to ground. Replace junction block fuse No. 27. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace ACM. Replace junction block fuse No. 27.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes. Disconnect Airbag Control Module (ACM) connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 17 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire) on ACM harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Dark Blue/Yellow wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Measure resistance of Dark Blue/Yellow wire between fused ignition switch output terminal on junction block fuse No. 27 and terminal No. 17 on ACM harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace junction block fuse No. 27. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Dark Blue/Yellow wire. Replace junction block fuse No. 27.
- Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and ignition switch output run/start terminal on fuse No. 27 socket. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open ignition switch output run/start circuit.
- Install fuse No. 27. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes. Disconnect Airbag Control Module (ACM) connector. Reconnect battery and turn ignition on. Using ohmmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 17 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire) on ACM harness connector. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Dark Blue/Yellow wire.
- Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (Black/Pink wire) on ACM harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black/Pink wire.
- Ensure ACM harness connector is disconnected and battery is connected. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 19 (Violet/Brown wire) on ACM harness connector. If voltage is 1.8-2.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 1.8-2.6 volts, repair open Violet/Brown wire.
- Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 18 (White/Black wire) on ACM harness connector. If voltage is 1.8-2.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 1.8-2.6 volts, repair open White/Black wire.
