Exterior Lighting Test 6A - Headlights Will Not Turn Off

NOTE: Perform EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Disconnect headlight switch connector. If headlights turn off, replace headlight switch. If headlights do not turn off, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located under left side of dash. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If headlights turn off, replace BCM. If headlights did not turn off, go to next step.
  3. Remove headlight relay. Headlight relay is located in junction block, behind right kick panel. See Figure under EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 2A. If headlights do not turn off, repair headlight switch short to battery in Tan/Black wire (output circuit). If headlights turn off, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 85 (Black/Orange wire) on headlight relay connector. See Figure under EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 2A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Orange wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace headlight relay.
