Test TC-113A: EVAP Purge Flow Monitor Failure
NOTE:

NOTE:
Replacing PCM will not correct this problem. Evaporative (EVAP) purge solenoid may also be referred to as EVAP solenoid.
- Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Carefully inspect all vacuum hoses for proper routing and for pinched or plugged hoses from engine to EVAP solenoid and to gasoline tank. Repair hoses as necessary and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES . If hoses are okay, go to next step.
- Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off. Disconnect EVAP solenoid-to-EVAP canister hose at EVAP solenoid. Start engine. No vacuum should flow through EVAP solenoid for 1-2 minutes. If vacuum flows within one minute, perform TEST TC-113C . If vacuum does not flow within one minute, go to next step.
- After 90 seconds, purge solenoid should allow vacuum to cycle intermittently at a steady rate. If EVAP solenoid does not operate as specified, go to step 5)
. If EVAP solenoid operates as specified, go to next step.CAUTION: DO NOT use more than 5 psi in following step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EVAP solenoid-to-EVAP canister vacuum hose at EVAP solenoid. Attempt to blow air through vacuum hose. If air flows, EVAP solenoid and hoses are okay. Test is complete. Perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES . If air does not flow, perform TEST TC-113B: EVAP PURGE FLOW MONITOR FAILURE .
- Disconnect EVAP solenoid hoses at EVAP solenoid. Connect a vacuum gauge to disconnected EVAP solenoid-to-throttle body hose. Start engine and allow it to idle. If gauge does not read manifold vacuum, repair restriction in hose, throttle body or intake manifold and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES . If gauge reads manifold vacuum, go to next step.
- Reconnect EVAP solenoid-to-throttle body hose. Connect vacuum gauge to canister side of EVAP solenoid. If vacuum reading is not 3-7 in. Hg, replace EVAP solenoid and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES . If vacuum reading is as specified, go to next step.
- Connect vacuum pump to EVAP solenoid-to-EVAP canister hose. Apply more than 2 in. Hg vacuum. If canister does not hold more than 2 in. Hg, replace EVAP solenoid and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES . If canister holds more than 2 in. Hg, go to next step.
- Check for plugged hose or vent port on EVAP canister. Repair hose as necessary and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES . If vent port is plugged, clean plugged vent port and retest. If no plugs exist, replace EVAP canister and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES .
