Test 46A - Open Mic Sensor Circuits

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Jeep Wrangler, 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 1995 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Natural connector and MIC connector. Check connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Orange/Dark Blue wire between MIC connector terminal No. 3 and BCM Natural connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Check resistance of Light Blue wire between MIC connector terminal No. 5 and BCM Natural connector terminal No. 6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
