Instrument Cluster Test 11A - PWM (Pulse Width Dimming) Test Failed
NOTE:
Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
NOTE:
Low battery or momentary BUS failure can cause fault message to set.
- Using scan tool, erase all Body Control Module (BCM) fault messages. Start engine. Turn parking lights on for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, turn parking lights and engine off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read BCM fault messages. If scan tool does not display PWM TEST FAILED, system is operating properly at this time. If scan tool displays PWM TEST FAILED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM White 24-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, probe BCM White 24-pin connector terminal No. 16 (Orange wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Orange wire.
