Door Ajar Test 9A - Open Liftgate Ajar Circuit
NOTE:
Perform DOOR AJAR TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- If problem is not with liftgate ajar switch and glass ajar switch (if equipped), go to step 3). If problem is with liftgate ajar switch and glass ajar switch (if equipped), go to next step.
- Backprobe a jumper wire between BCM Black 14-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Tan/Black wire) and chassis ground. DO NOT disconnect BCM connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Black wire between BCM and liftgate/glass ajar switch splice. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM.
- If problem is not with liftgate glass ajar switch circuit (if equipped), go to step 4). If problem is with liftgate glass ajar switch circuit (if equipped), disconnect liftgate glass ajar switch connector. Connect jumper wire between liftgate ajar switch connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Tan/Black wire). Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace liftgate glass ajar switch. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Black wire between liftgate glass ajar switch and chassis ground.
- Disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Connect jumper wire between liftgate ajar switch connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Tan/Black wire). Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace liftgate ajar switch. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Black wire between liftgate glass ajar switch and chassis ground.
