Door Ajar Test 8A - Shorted Liftgate Ajar Circuit
NOTE:
Perform DOOR AJAR TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Disconnect liftgate ajar switch. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to step next. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace liftgate ajar switch.
- On models without liftgate glass ajar switch, go to next step. On models with liftgate glass ajar switch, disconnect liftgate glass ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: OPEN, replace liftgate glass ajar switch.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 14-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair short to ground in Tan/Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and BCM 14-pin connector terminal No. 1.
