Test TC-187C - EVAP Leak Monitor Pinched Hose
NOTE:
Perform TEST TC-187A before proceeding.
CAUTION:
Before proceeding with diagnosis, following precautions must be followed: keep lighted cigarettes, sparks, flames or other ignition sources away from test area. Ensure test area is well ventilated. Ensure fuel tank is at least 1/2 full before performing test. Pressurizing fuel tank with less than 3 gallons of fuel may result in an explosion caused by ignition of fumes. Wear safety glasses when performing test procedures. If vehicle is not being tested on a hoist, ensure parking brake is applied and all wheels are blocked before starting test.
- Reconnect Leak Detection Pump (LDP) pressure hose. Allow testing tool pressure pump to reach at least 14 psi. Using scan tool, stop all actuation tests while monitoring testing tool pressure gauge. If pressure does not drop when stopping actuation tests, replace LDP and filter, and perform TEST VER-5A . If pressure drops, go to next step.
- Disconnect testing tool from LDP. Disconnect EVAP purge hose from EVAP solenoid. Start engine and allow it to idle. Wait 3 minutes or until EVAP purge solenoid starts to operate. If vacuum pulsates at canister side of solenoid, no problem is found at this time. Perform TEST VER-5A. If vacuum does not pulsate, go to next step.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from throttle side of EVAP solenoid. If engine vacuum is present, replace EVAP solenoid and perform TEST VER-5A . If vacuum is not present, repair obstruction in vacuum hose or throttle, and perform TEST VER-5A.
