Test TC-138B - Target Idle Not Reached

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in this section.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCV valve hose from intake manifold. Cap vacuum port at intake manifold. Disconnect idle purge hose from throttle. Install Orifice Tool (6457) on idle purge hose port at throttle. Go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Allow engine to reach operating temperature. Using scan tool, actuate MIN AIRFLOW. If engine speed is 500 RPM or more, replace throttle and perform TEST VER-2A . If engine speed is less than 500 RPM, go to next step.
WARNING: Clean throttle in well ventilated area and wear rubber gloves.
  3. Remove throttle. While holding throttle open, spray entire throttle bore with carburetor/throttle cleaner. Using soft scuff pad, clean throttle bore and throttle plate. Using compressed air, dry throttle. Install throttle and go to next step.
  4. Start engine. Allow engine idle to stabilize. Using scan tool, actuate MIN AIRFLOW. If engine speed is less than 500 RPM, replace throttle and perform TEST VER-2A . If engine speed is 500 RPM or more, test is complete. Perform TEST VER-2A.
NOTE: A break in test sequence occurs at this point. Sequence skips from TEST TC-138B to TEST TC-141A. No tests have been omitted.
