Test 6B - Left Front Sensor Circuit Failure

NOTE: Perform TEST 4A  before proceeding. For connector terminal and circuit identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM . Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
  1. Inspect Left Front (LF) Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) connector for damage. If connector is okay, turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Inspect sensor and connector for corroded, damaged or backed-out terminal pins. Repair as necessary. If sensor and connector are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance across WSS terminals. If resistance is 900-1300 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace LF WSS.
  3. Check resistance between each sensor terminal and ground. If resistance is 15 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 15 k/ohms, replace LF WSS.
  4. Disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) connectors. Check resistance between CAB connector "B", terminal B9 and ground. If resistance is 15 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 15 k/ohms, repair LF WSS positive (+) circuit for short to ground.
  5. Check resistance between CAB connector "B", terminal B10 and ground. If resistance is 15 k/ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 15 k/ohms, repair LF WSS negative (-) circuit for short to ground.
  6. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and LF WSS connector terminal No. 2. Check resistance between CAB connector "B", terminals B9 and B13. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in LF WSS sensor positive (+) circuit.
  7. Move jumper wire between ground and LF WSS connector terminal No. 1. Check resistance between CAB connector "B", terminals B10 and B13. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace CAB. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in LF WSS negative (-) circuit.
