Test 31A - EIC No Response Condition

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B  after each repair.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect EIC connector. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on EIC connector terminal No. 10 (Violet/Brown wire). If voltage is less than one volt, repair open Violet/Brown wire between EIC and Data Link Connector (DLC). If voltage is more than one volt, go to next step.
  2. Check voltage on EIC connector terminal No. 9 (White/Black wire). If voltage is less than one volt, repair open White/Black wire between EIC connector and DLC. If voltage is more than one volt, go to next step.
  3. Check voltage on EIC connector terminal No. 11 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 31B . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Close all doors. Ensure courtesy lamps are off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of EIC connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on EIC connector terminal No. 2 (Pink wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace EIC. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  6. Remove and inspect IOD fuse from Power Distribution Center (PDC). If fuse is open, go to TEST 31C . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  7. Reinstall IOD fuse. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on IOD fuse connector (Black/Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire between IOD fuse connector and EIC. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair or replace PDC as necessary.
