Test 28C - Diagnosing Courtesy Light Battery Feed Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in this section.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: Ensure vanity mirror, glove box and under seat lights are off. All doors MUST be closed during the following test steps.
  1. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at IOD fuse in Power Distribution Center (PDC). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Black left pod switch connector. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at Black left pod switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 4). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Check resistance of switch output circuit (Pink/Light Blue wire) at Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Light Blue wire and replace IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left pod switch and IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
  4. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind center console. Ensure probe is still connected to IOD fuse connector (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM and IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Check resistance at IOD fuse connector (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster and replace IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect radio connector. Check resistance at IOD fuse connector (Pink wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace radio and fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
