Test 38D - Diagnosing Chime With Driver's Door Open
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
article in this section.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Remove key from ignition, turn exterior lights off and open driver's door. If chime does not operate, system is operating properly at this time. If chime operates, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read key-in ignition status. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, go to step 5). If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read headlamp status. If DRB displays HEADLAMPS:OFF, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B . If DRB does not display HEADLAMPS:OFF, go to next step.
- Disconnect Natural Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind center console. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fused park light relay output circuit (Tan wire) at Natural BCM connector terminal No. 16. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-1B . If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B .
- Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector (4-wire connector located at ignition). Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B . If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Using DRB, read key-in ignition status. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, replace ignition switch. Perform TEST VER-1B . If DRB displays KEY IN IGN:CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect Blue BCM connector. BCM is located behind center console. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of key-in ignition sense circuit (Light Blue wire) at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1B .
