Test 24B - Diagnosing Wiper Problem During Wash Cycle

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in this section.
  1. Attempt to operate wipers in intermittent mode. If wipers do not operate in intermittent mode, go to TEST 23A  . If wipers operate in intermittent mode, go to next step.
  2. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind center console. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, backprobe washer pump switch output circuit (Brown wire) at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 10. With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging washers, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging washers, go to next step.
  3. Gain access to multifunction switch connector. Backprobe washer pump control switch output circuit (Brown wire) at multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3. With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging switch, replace multifunction switch. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging washers, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Disconnect Blue BCM connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of washer pump control switch output circuit (Brown wire) between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 10 and multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
