Test 33B - Checking For Open Key-In Light Circuit

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Plymouth Voyager, 1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager, 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan, 1994 Dodge Caravan, and 1994 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect Blue Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind center console. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If connector is okay, go to next step.
  2. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on key-in light driver circuit (Yellow/Red wire) at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 19. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
NOTE: Key-in ignition switch connector MUST remain connected during following steps.
  3. Gain access to key-in ignition switch connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, backprobe key-in light driver circuit (Yellow/Red wire) at key-in ignition switch connector terminal No. 4. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Yellow/Red wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Backprobe courtesy light switch output circuit (Pink/Light Blue wire) at key-in ignition switch connector terminal No. 3. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair or replace key-ignition bulb or socket as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B
