Transmission Gear Selection

The P/N safety switch on transmission housing provides an input to PCM to indicate if transmission is in Park, Neutral or Drive. PCM uses this input to determine necessary changes to idle speed, fuel injector pulse width and ignition timing advance. Also see PARK/NEUTRAL (P/N) SWITCH.
