Sync Pick-Up

Sync pick-up is located inside distributor and is used along with crankshaft position sensor to determine fuel injection sequence. Sync pick-up consists of a single shutter blade that passes through Hall Effect switch causing a signal to be sent to PCM.

PCM compares signals received from crankshaft position sensor and sync pick-up to determine which piston is coming up to top dead center. PCM then fires injectors in proper order for engine to operate.
