Centrifugal Advance Check

  1. Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum advance mechanism and plug. Connect timing light to No. 1 spark plug and tachometer to ignition coil TACH terminal.
  2. Start engine and observe timing while engine is idle. Slowly increase engine speed to 2000 RPM. timing should advance smoothly as engine speed increases.
