Restraints Control Module (RCM) - Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Connect WDS to the vehicle and up-load the relevant data.
  2. Remove the cover and disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Specifications article.
  3. Make the SRS system safe. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering or Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering .
  4. Remove the keyless vehicle antenna. Refer to Keyless Vehicle Antenna article.

  5. NOTE: If the SRS component is to be replaced, the bar code of the new unit must be recorded.
    NOTE: The RCM will record and store impact data. The module must be replaced when three records are noted.
  6. Remove the restraints control module (RCM).
    • Remove the 3 bolts.
    • Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
