Diagnostic Test Procedure
- Disconnect the ECM/TCM fan motor connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECM/TCM cooling fan motor harness connector terminal No. 2 and ground. Is voltage greater than 10 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair circuit between ECM/TCM cooling fan motor harness connector terminal No. 2 and battery. This circuit includes the EMS fuse box, (fuse No. 16), EMS control relay, and the high power protection module.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect ECM connector EM85. Measure resistance between ECM harness connector EM85 terminal No. 5 and ECM/TCM fan motor harness connector terminal No. 1. Is resistance greater than 5 ohms? If yes, repair high resistance between ECM harness connector EM85 terminal No. 5 and ECM/TCM fan motor harness connector terminal No. 1. If no, clear codes and retest system. If DTC resets, possible ECM failure.
