DTC P1514: PNP Switch High Load (XJS)

NOTE: After each repair, clear DTCs. See CLEARING CODES/PCM RESET PROCEDURE  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Turn ignition off and then on. Read DTCs to verify repair is complete. For DLC and PCM connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  1. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If DTC P1514 is present, shift selector lever to Drive. Ensure rotary switch indicates Drive. If rotary switch is as indicated, go to next step. If rotary switch is not as indicated, adjust shift linkage as necessary.
  2. Ensure PNP switch harness and connectors are not damaged and connections are okay. Repair as necessary. If harness and connectors are okay, using DVOM, check Black/Green wire for short circuit to ground between rotary switch connector terminal No. 6, located at left side of transmission, and PCM Red connector terminal No. 27, and Black/Light Green wire between rotary switch connector terminal No. 7 and security system control module connector terminal No. 5. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring is okay, go to next step.
  3. Clear DTCs. Turn ignition off and then on. Read DTCs. If DTC P1514 is not present, repair is complete. If DTC P1514 is present, replace PCM.
