Exhaust Gas Recirculation Test

For PCM to start and run EGR test following conditions must exist:

Start Test

• Throttle position angle is less than 0.8 percent.
• EGR duty cycle is less than one percent.
• MAP sensor signal is steady, changing less than 2 kPa.
• The computed changes of MAP value when the EGR valve is closed exceeds the decision limit.
• Map sensor signal is 10-40 kPa.
• Engine speed is between 900 RPM and 1500 RPM (A/T). The test will be aborted if the vehicle speed changes by more than 10 MPH (16 km/h), engine speed changes by more than 100 RPM or the EGR is opened less than 95 percent of commanded position.
• PCM will only run EGR test during closed throttle (deceleration) conditions.
• PCM will only run EGR test at vehicle speed above 15 MPH (24 km/h).

Run Test

• Change in the MAP value is recorded during EGR valve open.
• EGR valve closed "ramped" over a time interval.
