Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes - 3.1L EFI: Introduction

NOTE: The term CHECK ENGINE light is now referred to as Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). The MIL is displayed in instrument cluster as CHECK ENGINE. Electronic Control Module (ECM) may also be referred to as Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

If no faults were found while performing BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - FUEL INJECTION, proceed with self-diagnostics. If no fault codes or only pass codes are present after entering self-diagnostics, proceed to H - 3.1 EFI TEST W/O CODES article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e., ROUGH IDLE, NO START, etc.).
