Map Sensor

  1. MAP sensor is located on right fenderwell. See Figure . Start and warm engine to operating temperature. Disconnect MAP sensor electrical connector. Disconnect and plug vacuum hose "A" at MAP sensor. See Fig 1 .
  2. Connect voltmeter leads between terminals No. 1 and 2 (harness side) of MAP sensor connector. Voltmeter should indicate more than 2.5 volts. Connect vacuum hose "A" to MAP sensor.
  3. Backprobe and measure voltage across terminals No. 1 and 2 at MAP sensor connector. Less than 2.5 volts should be indicated. If voltage readings are not as specified, replace MAP sensor. Also, see IDLE (VACUUM) SWITCH & MAP CIRCUIT CHECK procedure.
